PSD to make a splash in Port Dickson

KUALA LUMPUR: Palm Springs Development Sdn Bhd (PSD), a subsidiary of listed developer Tanco Holdings Bhd, will be developing a water theme park and serviced suites resort.

The park and resort will be sited on a 9.2ha land located within the company's Palm Springs Resort City (PSRC) in Port Dickson.

The total gross development value of the water theme project is estimated at RM600 million.

Besides the water theme park and serviced suites, it will also boast a 250 room hotel with convention facilities for 2,000 pax.

Named "Splash Park", the project's initial phase will see the water theme park (set to be the largest in Negri Sembilan) featuring Malaysia's biggest water playship structure and is expected to be operational in 2015.

There will also be 830 units of fully serviced "Splash Park Suites".

According to Chan Chee Meng, executive director of PSD, Splash Park will be complemented by other facilities already in place in PSRC, namely the 18-hole Kelab Golf DiRaja Palm Springs, its Club Village and Extreme Park.

"We believe Splash Park will give a timely boost to Port Dickson as a key attraction for both local and international tourists.

"Even though Port Dickson is an established beach resort, we believe much more can be done to enhance its popularity. Splash Park can help increase tourist arrivals by providing best-in-class tourist attractions."

Chan added that purchasers of the serviced suites will be assured rental returns of up to 54 per cent over a nine-year period, payments of which will be adminis-tered by Pacific Trustees Bhd, a registered and licensed trust company.

"Apart from being an iconic development, Splash Park will offer an attractive investment opportunity with assured rental returns.

"As a lifestyle development previously unavailable in Port Dickson, it will open up many exciting opportunities for investors and tourists alike."

Chan said Splash Park will be well positioned to complement Malaysia's Tourism Transformation Project, which targets 36 million tourist arrivals by 2020.

Globally, Malaysia achieved the ninth position for international tourist arrivals with 24.7 million arrivals in 2012.

Splash Park will kick-start the new phase under the PSRC master development plan, which has 162ha of sea-fronting land in Port Dickson.

Apart from Splash Park, other exciting developments include an international spa retreat village, retirement village, international hotels, serviced residences, a wellness zone, a marina and duty-free shopping outlets.

"Malaysia's tourism industry is growing rapidly and is recognised to be a key engine of growth in moving the country towards a high-income nation. We are confident PSRC can play a role in realising this aspiration," Chan said.
